Big Sky Live · Last updated: September 23, 2026
The short version: Big Sky Live is a free app made by locals, for locals. Be kind, post only what you'd be comfortable saying to a neighbor's face, and use your own judgment when meeting people. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. You can report any post or message, and block anyone at any time.
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Big Sky Live mobile app (formerly "Big Sky Tonight"; "the app"). When you first open the app, you are asked to agree to these Terms before you can use it. By tapping "Agree & continue" or otherwise using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
Big Sky Live is a free community app for Big Sky, Montana. It lets people discover local events, RSVP, organize activities, share rides, post on the community board, post lost & found notices, talk with each other in threads, share road conditions with neighbors, find safety information, and keep a personal wildlife log. The app is not a transportation, ticketing, food-ordering, or payment service: it does not book seats, take food orders, process payments, or arrange transportation.
You must be able to form a binding agreement to use the app and use it in compliance with these Terms and all applicable laws.
The app does not use passwords or email sign-up. When you first open it, you choose a display name and an avatar, and your profile is linked to your device. Your display name and avatar are visible to other users next to anything you post. Do not use a name that impersonates someone else or that is offensive.
You are solely responsible for anything you post, including posts, thread messages, contact details, and images. Posts and messages can be seen by other users of the app, so do not share anything you want to keep private. By posting, you confirm you have the right to share that content. You agree not to post content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, threatening, defamatory, sexually explicit, or that infringes anyone's rights or privacy, and not to use the app to spam, impersonate others, or endanger anyone. Photos must not show other people, license plates, or personal documents without permission.
We have a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content and abusive users. Every user must accept these Terms before using the app. To keep the community safe:
We may remove any content or suspend access at our discretion to keep the community safe.
Posts can include a conversation thread. You can join, mute, or leave threads. If you allow notifications, the app may send you push notifications about new messages in threads you take part in. You can turn notifications off at any time in the app or in your iPhone settings.
Road conditions shown in the app are reports from other users, not official information, and may be wrong or out of date. Road status is calculated automatically from recent reports, and each report expires a few hours after it is posted. Never use the app while driving. Report only what you have seen yourself. For official road information use Montana 511; in an emergency call 911. Posting false road reports is a violation of these Terms.
Safety & Alerts shows fixed information and lets you sign up, by text message, for the Big Sky Fire Department's own alert system; we do not send those alerts or control when they arrive. In an emergency always call 911. The Wildlife section is a personal log kept on your device; never approach wild animals, and log sightings only from a safe distance.
The app helps people find each other but does not verify users, vet posts, or supervise any meeting, ride, exchange, or other interaction that results. Rides and activities are arranged directly between users; we are not a party to them. If a ride organizer chooses to share a phone number, it is shown only to people who joined that ride. You are responsible for your own safety and judgment when contacting others, sharing a ride, meeting someone, or exchanging property. Use common sense and take the precautions you would with any stranger.
The app does not process payments and takes no commission. Any money that changes hands between users (for example, sharing fuel costs on a ride) is entirely between those users and outside the app.
Event times, venue details, menus, road reports, and user posts may be incomplete, out of date, or inaccurate. Confirm important details directly with the venue, official sources, or the person who posted before relying on them.
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any content is accurate.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss or harm arising from your use of the app, from interactions or transactions between users, from rides or meetings arranged through the app, from reliance on road reports, safety information, or any other content. Your use of the app is at your own risk.
We may change, suspend, or discontinue the app or any feature at any time. We may update these Terms; if we make important changes, the app will ask you to agree to the new version.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Montana, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
Your license to use the app is also subject to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/). Apple is not responsible for the app or its content and is not a party to these Terms.
